This series contains certificates of nomination filed with the Secretary of State under the provisions of Chap. 215, from the various political parties in Florida in 1904, 1906, and 1908. The records consist of notices from the Secretary of State to the Board of Commissioners certifying nominations of candidates to various county, state, and national positions, such as county commissioner, governor and cabinet, and presidential electors from each Congressional District. Party affiliations include Democratic, Independent, Peoples, Prohibition, Socialist, and Republican.

The County Guards were created in 1917 (Ch. 7292, Laws) by the Florida Legislature to replace the National Guard of Florida which had been activated for European service as part of the American Expeditionary Force of World War I.
